Child Labour Prohibition Report
The department of social work, St. Albert’s College, conducted a program on Child Labour Prohibition. The program participation had approximately 31 students and 3 teachers.The session conveyed the message of bringing stop to child labour and spreaded awareness about the laws and the number of abuses children face while they are exposed to unsafe atmosphere.

The department of Social Work conducted an awareness class on drug abuse at HIHSS Edavanakad in association with the Excise office Njarakkal and the Edavanakad Grama panchayat. The program was inaugurated by the panchayat president Sree Jeevan mithra. The excise officer Sree Dileep took the awareness class. After that there was an interactive session with the students. The program came to an end after the interactive session.

The department of social work, St. Albert’s College, organized an awareness session on ‘Gender Awareness’.The session involved the participation of 31 students and 3 faculty members.The session conveyed the message of the ability to view the society from the perspective of gender roles and how this has affected women’s needs in comparison to the needs of men.
Human Rights Converging Special Needs
The department of association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college conducted a webinar on the topic ‘Human Rights Converging Special Needs’. The webinar which was conducted on 11th December 2019 had two guest speakers. Shakeeb Ahmed Khan, a professional of the INGO developmental sector and Sr. Divya Mundackal SD, program officer of the association for Social Development Suhurth Sadan, Choondy, Aluva. The speakers took the session, after which the there was an open forum for discussion.

The department of social work has conducted Legal Awareness class in association with District Legal Awareness class. The program has inaugurated by Fr.Jolly John Odathunkal (HOD social work department), St.Albert’s college, Autonomous, Ernakulum. Adv.TEENA CHERIYAN conducted the Legal awareness class. The class was successful in providing basic awareness to students regarding IPC, Crpc, Women and child rights and so on, and how to move forward as per the law, if any of these rights are violated to individual with the help of existing government machinery.
ESAF TRAINING ON RESEARCH
The training session was conducted on 08.02.2020. The speaker of the session was Mr. Dipin Panicker, Representative of ESAF. The speaker dealt with the topic “Methods of Survey” and he explained on various types of survey questionnaires and detailed about market assessment and household surveys. The guidelines in filling the questionnaire was also given during the session.
SURVEY
For theoretical application the social work trainees went to take the surveys on 09.02.2020 from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The trainees were divided into 11 groups and they went for household survey and for market assessment. The trainees covered 250 houses and two markets.
DATA ANALYISIS
A data analysis session was conducted on 11.02.2020. Mr. Dipin Panicker observed and explained on the data collected from the survey. He elaborated on the use of excel sheet and how to effectively use them to evaluate and to draw findings on the data and to make interference from the graph.
DELIVERANCE FUNCTION
As the social work trainees successfully completed the training session a Deliverance function was held on 03.03.2020. Mr. Dipin Panicker and Mr. Abhilash rewarded the trainees with the certificates as an honor for conducting a survey on livability in Kochi cooperation in association with ESAF. Ms. Steny, delivered the welcome address and Ms. Hatlin addressed the vote of thanks for the program.

The department of social work in association with National health Mission (NHM), Ernakulam and MEHAC Foundation has conducted a three day training programme in Basics of Mental Health. The programme has inaugurated by FR. Fr. Jolly John odathumkal ( HOD, social work department ) . The session was taken by Dr. Chitra Venkateswaran. She stressed the point of importance of mental health awareness in every individual. Total of sixty two members attended the meeting including the faculty members from the Social work department.
Visit of International students from Seisen University Japan
On 11th September 2017, an event was organized by the department of Social work jointly with MBA department. A visit of international students from Seisen University Japan happened as part of the event. The event was coordinated by Shalma Antony. The programme commenced with a prayer by Sible ROSE followed by welcome address delivered by Chinnu Darwin. The interactive session of the Albert’s students with the international students were much fruitful and productive for the day. The programme came to close with a vote of thanks.
