The Department of Economics, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam has a rich tradition of over 73 years. The department has a reputation for creating good citizens with personal and social responsibilities. The Department of Economics was established in 1946 with a Pre- University course and in 1947, Degree course in Economics was introduced. In 2013, the department was upgraded to a Post Graduate Department in the college. The Department has a long history of organizing regional, national and international seminars, invited lectures and workshops. The Department has a student strength of above 200 with 6 permanent faculties.

Message from Head of the Department
The Department of Economics was established in 1946 with a Pre- University course and in 1947, Degree course in Economics was introduced. In 2013, the department was upgraded to a Post Graduate Department in the college. The Department of Economics has recorded a consistent improvement in its academic, research and placement performance. It provides a variety of resourcefully designed courses whose curriculum are continuously modernized to meet the changing requirement of the modern world and to meet the needs of the students. Department of Economics launched a first certificate program in the college during the academic year 2019-2020. I hope all our students will well accept in their career and consistently exceed the expectations of the current world. The set of courses are educated by the eminent faculty members by combining academic brilliance and real-world knowledge with devotion and commitment.
