Welcome To Our Department
The Department of Retail Management of St. Albert’s College (Autonomous) started its functioning in the year 2019. The department offers three-year vocational degree course in Retail Management, affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. Retail Management is a sub-discipline of the general field of management that deals with overseeing the distribution and selling of products directly to the consumers in specific vending points such as shops, chain stores, markets and malls. It improves the quality and diversity of students at intake level. B. Voc Retail Management is a work integrated degree programme which enhance the culture of entrepreneurship and more focused on providing skills necessary to manage retail activities. Since its establishment the primary objective of the department has been to develop students into competent and successful entry level management professionals. Today’s organizations are operating in a complex and dynamic environment where there is a constant demand for young talented professionals. To work in such challenging environment our students are equipped with knowledge in marketing, strategy, operations and people management skills by the faculty members of the department. A platform for hands on training in the form of internship and on-the-job training in various organizations help the students to apply their theoretical knowledge and prepare them to face challenges of job market.

The vision of the department is to provide quality oriented teaching that may bring out the potentiality of the students and thereby become a leading provider of retail related education, supporting the growth of country’s retail industry.

The Department of Retail management started in the year 2019 and since then we have been enriching young minds to meet the challenges of the industry of retail management. The department promotes and approach of student-centered teaching, supported by ICT channelized through seminars, presentations, projects, assignments .We provide stimulating learning environment with skilled orientation across the whole curriculum ,which maximizes individual potential and ensures students of varying abilities to be well equipped to meet the challenges of education, work and life. The central focus of our mission is to generate highly skilled and competent professionals by providing quality education and training students to effectively apply education to make their signature in the world. I congratulate and thank all the staff and students who have made for their untiring efforts to bring out this department .I’m sure the department will reach greater heights in the future.
