The Department of English, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam, conducted a webinar on Environmental Consciousness and Sustainability in Amitav Ghosh’s Gun Island on the 3rd of October, 2020. The webinar was led by Dr. Monali Chatterjee, Assistant Professor at Institute of Management, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. The webinar explored the novel in detail bringing out its significance in today’s context. The Gun Island explores the impact of climate change in various parts of the globe. Dr Monali ended her presentation by taking a look on Eco-criticism in Gun Island and how in most of history man had to fight nature to survive and how now in order to survive he must protect it. Overall, it was an enriching webinar about the importance of nurturing nature in order to have a better future.
