International Women’s Day – Webinar on Women in Science : Energy for Sustainable Future

On the occasion of International Womens day on 08^th March 2022 the department of renewable energy conducted an online talk session on the topic Women in science: Energy for sustainable future. The resource person for the session was Dr.Jasna M. from Cochin University of Science and Technology. The attendees were from B.Voc and M. Voc students of the department. The session started at 07:00 pm with welcome speech by Asst. Prof. Vijayalakshmi C G and Presidential address by Dr.Jerin Mohan N.D. Head of Department which was followed by the talk session by Dr.Jasna and session was concluded by Vote of thanks by III B.Voc RE student Jesna Paul.

St. Albert’s college (Autonomous ), Ernakulam organized Albertian Knowledge Summit (AKS 2022), an international conference on multidisciplinary research with the aim to provide a forum for academicians and professionals from multidisciplinary areas to network and share knowledge.

TALK 2: SOLAR ENERGY TO MEET ENERGY CRISIS: A TECHNICAL REVIEW

The second talk of AKS – RE 2022 by Dr. Nirmal Mukundan C M, Post doctoral fellow, Khalifa University held on 16^th  March 2022 at  07.00 PM in the Google meet platform.

A webinar on the topic “Data Analysis essential using MS Excel” was organised by the Department of Renewable Energy, St Albert’sCollege (Autonomous), Ernakulam on 31^st January 2022 at 8 AM in the Google Meet platform. The invited speaker was Ms. Sangeetha J, Head-in-Charge, Department of Computer Science, St Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam.

 

The Department of Renewable Energy  St. Albert’s College (autonomous)  Ernakulam and REPCOS Ltd Ernakulam  in association with Energy Management Centre , Government of Kerala , organized “GO ELECTRIC CAMPAIGN 2021-22” on  21^ST DECEMBER 2021.

 

 

The Department of Renewable Energy organised  a webinar on the topic  ‘Digital Tools for Scientific Document Preparation’ on 6^th December  2021 to promote research in renewable energy and to fulfil the UNDP goal for sustainable development. The resource person for the same was Dr. Daniel C ,  Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science , Chennai.

The Department of Renewable Energy organised a webinar in connection with Vigilance Awareness Week-2021on 12^thNovember 2021 at 2pm via Google meet platform, to create an awareness on vigilance and corruptions going around us. It was our honour to have  Shri.Arakal Paily George, Retired Superintendent of Police, Lok Ayukta Investigation Wing, Thiruvananthapuram as the speaker for the webinar.

 

The Department of Renewable Energy organised a webinar on the topic ‘Human values and Anti Dowry  System’ on 10^th October  2021 to create an awareness on the adverse effects of dowry system in the society , to encourage the girl students to have their own career and to be independent and also as a part of the UG induction program2021. The resource person for the same was  Adv. Maya Krishnan, Lawyer, High Court of Kerala.

 

 

The Department of Renewable Energy organised a webinar on the topic ‘Identification of Optimum location for Solar PV installation’ on 6^th September  2021 to create an awareness on recent technological trends in solar energy sector and solar panel industry. The resource person for the same was Mr.Janesh N. Mohanan, Principal Consultant & Partner ,  Alenso  Energy, Kochi.

2020-’21

 

A Webinar on “Career Opportunities in the Renewable Energy” was conducted on 13^th July, 2020. The resource person for the same was Mr.Mohamed Shaffeeq, Founder and CEO of Illumine Energy, Ernakulam.

ALBERTIAN SWACHTHA WEEK

Students took seminars on Fundamental duties, M.K Gandhi & Cleanliness, Model clean city and clean village & Japanese Practice of Cleanliness.

 

 

 

ENTREPRENEURIAL WORKSHOP ON SOLAR POWERED PRODUCTS

An Entrepreneurial workshop on Solar Powered Products was organized by the department in association with the Albertian Incubation Centre & IEDC. The program was inaugurated by Sri. Nidhish Kumar, Director, Innovation & Technology, Sunverge Pvt Ltd, Cochin. 

 

 

STUDENT SOLAR AMBASSADOR WORKSHOP 2019

The Department of Renewable Energy organized this event and almost 75 students received hands on training on solar lamp assembly under the teacher trainers who attended online training from IIT Bombay.

2016-’17

One day national workshop on Renewable Energy Technologies (RET – 2016) was organized by the department in April 2016.

The first talk was by Dr. Prasanth Raghavan, Associate Professor, Department of Polymer science & rubber technology, CUSAT on the topic Batteries on fire – Electrospinning and graphene pushing impossible to possible.

The Second talk was on Plastic Electronics – An Introduction to organic solar cells by Dr. P. Manoj, HOD, Department of Chemistry, St. Michael‟s College, Cherthala.

Dr. Suresh Mathew, Professor & Director, School of Chemical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam presented Hydrogen storage using Metal Organic Frameworks and solar photo catalysis as Renewable Energy Technologies. The workshop concluded with a paper presentation on Singlet fission break efficiencies of organic solar cells by Ms. Naveena Raju from CMS college, Kottayam.
