INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON MATERIAL SCIENCE & ORGANIC SYNTHESIS, 4thĀ & 5th JANUARY 2019, was organized by the Post Graduate Department of Chemistry and Research Centre, St.Albertās College (Autonmous), Ernakulam.
Faculty, Research scholars and students from various Colleges and universities across the state participated. There were five invited talks apart from paper presentations and poster presentations.
Dr.M.A.Solomon, Head of the Department of Chemistry welcomed the delegates and chaired the the first invited talk. The speaker was Prof.Dr.G.Unnikrishan, Department of Chemistry, NIT Calicut. Title of the talk was āNano- Macro Functional Materials for Technology ā New Approaches in Processing and Applicationsā.
The second invited talk was by Prof.SureshĀ C Pillai, Department of Environmental Science, Institute of Technology Sligo, Ireland on the topic āNanotechnology and its application for functional coatingsā. The talk was chaired by Dr.Jude Martin Mendez, Associate Professor in Chemistry.
The third invited talk was by Dr.Joaquim Puigdollers, Universitat Politecnica De Catalunya Barcelonatech, Barcelona, Spain on the topic āOrganic Thin Film Transistorsā.Ā The talk was chaired by Dr.Vijay John Gerson, AssistantĀ Professor.
The fourth invited talk was by Prof.Irishi N.N.Nambhoothiri, IIT Bomaby, Mumai, on the topic āCatalytic Assymmetric Synthesis of Multi-functional and Bioactive Moleculesā. The talkĀ was chaired by Dr.Rajesh Kunjan Pillai, Assistant Professor.
The fifth invited talk was by Prof.I.Ibnusaud, Director IIRBS, M.G Universit, Kottayam, on the topic āDiversity Oriented Synthesis using Garcinia and Hibiscus Acidsā. The talkĀ was chaired by Dr.Krishnakumar K.S, Assistant Professor.
Dr.P.A.Nelson, Dr.Saji K John, Dr.Nify Benny and Dr.SuneeshĀ C D chaired the paper presentations.
In the paper presentations, Soumya Salas, St.Albertās College (Autonomous) secured the bestĀ paper presentation award in Organic Chemistry and Sona Stanly (CUSAT) in the Material Science category.
In the poster presentations, Athira S Kumar, St.Albertās College (Autonomous) secured the bestĀ poster award.
Dr.M.A.Solomon, Head of the Department of Chemistry gave away the awards and certificates to the winners. Dr.Nisha V.S, ConvenerĀ proposed the vote of thanks.
