The Department of Commerce & Research Centre organised an international conference on the topic “DIGITAL CURRENCY” with the objective of creating an awareness about the digital currency and its importance in present scenario.
The conference was conducted in two sessions. Inauguration and Technical Session 1 began at 9.30 AM with the welcome address delivered by Dr. Rosalind Gonzaga, Vice Principal, St Albert’s College (Autonomous). The resource person for the first session was Mr DAVID SHIN, Head of Global Adoption for Klaytn Foundation. Mr David gave an insight into the cryptocurrency based digital currency in the international scenario. Vote of thanks was delivered by Ms Neeraja T S.
The Technical Session 2 started at 10.30 AM, the resource person for the second session was Prof.Dr.S. Santhosh Kumar, Professor, School of Management Studies, CUSAT, Kochi. The resource person gave a detailed session on digital currency from the Indian perspective. Welcome address was delivered by Dr Tia Mathews, HOD, Department of Commerce, St Albert’s College.
Based on the fact that digital currencies have gained much popularity and importance over the years Prof. Dr. S. Santhosh Kumar in his presentation highlighted the following details
- Relevance of the topic “DIGITAL CURRENCY”.
- Why crypto currency is gaining popularity?
- How does the crypto currency differ from digital currency?
- Introduction of Central bank digital currency in India
- How does fiat money and digital currency co- exist in the economy?
- Underlying technology in CBDC
The session ended with a round of student interaction and vote of thanks by Neetha Francis, Professor, Department of Commerce, St Albert’s College.
