The Department of Botany, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous) organized a Webinar on Monday, the 6th of July 2020 on the topic Know thy Jackfruit, to open a dialogue on conservation. The department organized this seminar to keep the scientific spirits of the people on, especially during the pandemic. The session aimed at spreading the message – “There’s no guilt in eating fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains” and including the jackfruit in diets to get independence from meat.
The key speakers for the webinar were Dr. K. Joseph John, Principal Scientist, NBPGR, who spoke on “Conservation of Jackfruit Diversity” and Eminent environmentalist Shree Padre, who spoke on “Value Addition in Jackfruits.” The organising team of this webinar consisted of Dr. J Jameson (HoD), Dr. Siju M Varghese, Dr. K Madhusudhanan (Coordinator), Smt. Drishya K Reghuvaran, Smt. Mary Joseph, Dr. Anna Ancy Antony A, Dr. Anisha S (Convenor), Sri Arjun Thomas and Sri Ambrose T J. The webinar was attended by around 148 participants.
