The Department of Renewable Energy, St Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam in association with the Women Empowerment Cell of the college organised a National webinar on Women Empowerment – A Prerequisite for Gender Equality on August 26th, 2020 as a part of celebrating Women’s Equality Day. The resource person for the session was Dr. Leena Leon, Assistant Professor and Research Guide, the Department of Home Science and Research Studies, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam. She has been a member of the organizing committees for various National seminars. She is also a life member of SHAKTHI, the Women’s wing of the Swadeshi Science Movement. She has also been conducting extension activities like workshops, lectures and demonstrations since 2006 for various organizations like Anganwadi workers, ICDS and Kudumbashree beneficiaries, Income Tax Department and CHILD on various topics like work-life management, time management, women and safety, personality development, parenting, sanitation and personal hygiene, crafts, and various aspects of health, diet, nutrition and life management.
The Webinar was coordinated by Mrs. Pearl Antonette Mendez, HoD In-charge, the Department of Renewable Energy. There were more than 130 participants for the webinar from different institutions inside and outside the state.
