The Department of Mathematics celebrated Onam virtually under the title β€œKanakkonam” on the 28th of August, 2020. The celebration was graced by presence of the Principal, Dr. Nelson Rodrigues, Assistant Manager, Fr. Christy David Pathiala and all members of faculty and students of the Department of Mathematics.

A series of fun games such as Onapattu, Malayali Manka, Kerala Purushan and Thani-malayalam were also conducted. A traditional Thiruvathira Dance was performed by Ms. Keerthy Prasad and team from III Bsc Mathematics, through a video. In addition to this, a Pookkalam Competition was also held on Thiruvonam Day, the 31st of August, 2020. The online Onam celebration was a unique experience for both the students and faculty.

These were the winners of the competitions –

In the Onappaatu competition, Christa Mary (I BSc Maths) won the first prize and Athullya S J, Niya Joseph (II MSc Maths), Abhirami R, Keerthi Prasad and Navaneeth Kamath (III BSc Maths) shared the second prize. In the Kerala Purushan competition, the first prize was bagged by Nivin Johny (II MSc Maths) and the second prize was shared by Amal A Biju (III BSc Maths) and Sajin Francis (II BSc Maths). In the Malayali Manka competition, Bhavyalakshmi P M (III BSc Maths) won the first prize and Ann Mary Teena, Sandra Sudheer (II MSc Maths), Keerthi Prasad (III BSc Maths) and Devika (II BSc Maths) shared the second prize. And in the Thani-Malayalam competition, Bhavyalakshmi P M (III BSc Maths) won the first prize and Jesna Cicilia Rocks won the second prize (II MSc Maths).

All the winners were given amazon gift cards as prizes.
