The Department of Journalism conducted the Albertian Knowledge Summit on the 6th of February 2023 at Melano Hall. The resource persons of the event were Dr A C Sreehari, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Payyanur College, Kannur and Dr Gopakumar A V Dean Faculty of Humanities, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru.
The conference began around 10 am with a prayer followed by the welcome speech delivered by Asst. Professor Krishnendu R (Head-in-Charge). The inaugural address was delivered by Rev. Dr. Antony Thoppil, chairman and manager. The felicitation of the event was delivered by Dr Retina I Cleetus, vice Principal of St Albert’s College (Autonomous). Dr A C Sreehari conducted a session on the topic “Aspects of Gender and Class on OTT Platforms Women and Children in Quarantine”. The talk was followed by a paper presentation session on the topic “Reinvigoration of the Traditional Concept of ‘Authentic Reading’ and its Retrocauality on Over the Top Movies and Series”. Students from various colleges participated in the same.
The second session began with an online talk by Dr Gopakumar A V on the topic “ Influence of radical past on Contemporary Auteurs”. The students clarified their doubts and shared their views and opinions during the session, making it a lively event. The program was coordinated by Asst. Professor Julian Tom Job and Asst. Professor Mary Stephy. The student coordinators were Akhila Johny and Angel Mary.
The Department of Journalism organized a memorable farewell function on the 23rd of February 2023 for the final year students at room number 206, St Albert’s College (Autonomous). The students conducted various dance performances and games. The final year students shared their vibrant experiences and also performed in the event. As a token of love, the teacher gifted small souvenirs for the students. The programme concluded on a happy note.
YULETIDE 2022
Christmas is the season of joy, sharing and caring. The Department of Journalism celebrated their Christmas with Providence Old Age Home on the 17th December 2022 “Pamper with Hamper” was the name of the outreach program. A vibrant team of teachers along with students added colour to the celebration by conducting various programs and providing gifts to everyone. The event was filled with music, dance and enthusiastic round of games. The students interacted with the members and spent happy moments with them.
The joyful vibes of Christmas were celebrated at St. Albert’s College (Autonomous) on the 23rd December 2022 with programmes and competitions such as star making, Santa competition and various other programmes like carol singing and much more. The celebrations came to an end with the fun, dance and games at the respective departments; were the students and teachers cut the cake and exchanged gifts as the secret Santa.
ലഹരിക്കെതിരെ ഫുട്ബോൾ ലഹരി
ലഹരിക്കെതിരെ ഫുട്ബോൾ ലഹരി campaign was organized by St. Albert’s College (Autonomous) on Thursday 24th November 2022 at 04.30 pm in Baccinelli Hall, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam in association with Kerala Excise Department and Vimukthi Mission. The students conducted programmes such as Selfie Corner, Face Art Design, Flash Mob, Goal Challenge – Penalty Shootout, Juggling, Ronaldo Jump Challenge, Football Dance, Skit, Football Quiz, Signature Wall against Drugs, Poster Exhibition, Debate, Elocution and Essay Writing. The students were also asked to wear football jerseys of their interest.
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication conducted the Face Art Design and Juggling competition. The Face Art Design competition was inaugurated by Dr Augustine K.J; the faculty coordinator of the event was Assistant Professor Devika Sujith and the student coordinator, Ann Sanya Gomez. The Juggling competition was inaugurated by Bursar Rev. Fr. Vincent Naduvilaparambil chairman and manager; the faculty coordinator of the event was Assistant Professor Frances Adarsh Albert. The student coordinators were Amrith Barid and Aromal S. The First and Second prize for Face Art Design competition was secured by Anishitha Rajesh of I BA English Triple Main and Fathima Aslam respectively. The First and Second prize for Juggling was won by Yohan of II BA English Triple Main and Riswan Basheer of Fitness Management respectively.
NEWS REPORTING COMPETITION- 2022
WORLD NEWS DAY
The Department of Journalism and Mass communication conducted a News Reporting Competition in connection with the world news day 2022. The completion was held at Emmanuel Hall of St. Albert’s College (Autonomous) on the 28th of September 2022 at 11:30 am. The faculty coordinator of the competition was Asst Professor Devika Sujith and the student coordinator was Maria Liz Keerthana. The first prize was secured by Joby T Roy of 1st year BA English Triple Main and the second place was won by Nandana G of 2nd year BA English Language and Literature. Winner of the competition was selected to read the Albertian News.
WORKSHOP ON POSTER DESIGNING – 2022
“TRANSLATION OF SKILLS”
The Department of Journalism organized a poster designing workshop for the first- and second-year students of the department on the 26th of September 2022 at 3:50 in room number 206 of St. Albert’s College (Autonomous). The workshop was led by Aiswarya Santhosh and Amala Philomina of 3rd year BA English Triple Main. The workshop was conducted to embark such skill-oriented qualities among students and to prepare them for future ventures. The faculty coordinator of the workshop was Asst Professor Carol Savio Fernandez and the Student Coordinator was Aiswarya Santhosh. The session enlightened the students and enabled them to have an idea on poster designing.
