WEBINAR SERIES ON BUDDING ENTREPRENEURS

The Department of Commerce and Research Centre in association with IEDC and District Industries Centre hosted a webinar series on Budding Entrepreneurs, from 27^th August, 2020 to 29^th August, 2020. The series consists of 5 sessions. The webinar series aimed at motivating young minds and inculcating an entrepreneurial taste in them. It is an extension activity of the department which aims at providing training and experience sharing of successful young entrepreneurs to motivate the students and general public to earn their livelihood during COVID 19 pandemic.

The first session of the Webinar series was a talk on Government Schemes for Self Employment, held on 27^th August, 2020. The session was handled by Rajesh K K, Industries Extension Officer from the Dept. Of Industries and Commerce, Kerala.

The second session, Bake n’ Flake was handled by three home baker speakers Ms. Benciya Y, Mrs. Joshmi Abraham and Ms. Teena Thomas who is an alumnus of the college. This session was held on the 28^th of August, 2020.

The third session, Exquisite was handled by Ms. Sandra Justin, student of the Department of English, St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery. She shared her story of being a passive entrepreneur in the fields of paper craft and hair band making. The session was held on 28^th August, 2020.

The fourth session, El Agua, was held on 29^th August, 2020. The speakers for this session were Mr. Christy Johnson, a student of the department, Mr. Darren Joseph Gonalvez, alumnus of the college and Mr. Mohammed Farooque. The session covered the areas of fish farming such as paduthakulam fish cultivation, guppy cultivation, koodu Krishi and mushroom cultivation.

The fifth session, Crespire, was handled by Ms. Heenu T J and Ms. Devika K D, who is an alumnus of the college. The session was on 28^th August, 2020. It covered bottle art, dream catchers, coffee painting and embroidery.

WEBINAR SERIES ON BUDDING ENTREPRENEURS – II

Department of Commerce and Research Centre in association with IEDC and District Industries Centre hosted a webinar series on Budding Entrepreneurs-II from 4^th October – 6^th October ,2021, which comprised of 4 further sessions. Inauguration and a talk on the ‘Be the next generation entrepreneur with government support’  was handled by Ms.Namitha P , Assistant District Industries officer, Kanayannur taluk. Further sessions were handled by budding entrepreneurs in various field. The sessions were ‘The bake story, Meraki part-1, Meraki Part-2 and Agventure’. The webinar series motivated in inculcating the entrepreneurial taste in the young minds.

The inaugural session of the Webinar series on Budding Entrepreneurs and a talk on the ‘Be the next generation entrepreneur with government support’ was held on 4^th October,2021 at 10.30 am. The session was handled by Ms.Namitha P , Assistant District Industries Officer, Kanayannur taluk.

The first session, ‘The bake story’ could move the participants to emerge with entrepreneurial skills investing in baking. The two home baker speakers Ms. Neha Martin, Final year UG student of department and Ms. Swati P. S could influence the audience. The session started at 11 am on 4^th October ,2021.

The second session ’Meraki’ of second day was as the word depicts. The session was conducted in 2 parts. The first session began at 11.am on 5^th October 2021.The student speakers Mr. Christy Baby Solomon pursuing BBA at NSS college ,Konni shared his successful story of being a digital artist. Secondly Ms. Sreelakshmi K.U, MBA student at Saingits Institute of Management, Kottayam shared her experiences on the field of online jewellery store.

The second part of the session was on on the same day at 2pm.The session was taken by two talented young entrepneurs Ms. Greeshma Jolly who is an emerging entrepreneur in the field of handmade gifts shared her experience and was a real motivation for the participants. Secondly Mrs. Jincy Thomas from Angamali, an entrepreneur from textile industry shared her experience in starting her own boutique from which the do’s and don’t were clearly identifiable to the participants.

The third session  Agventure was on 6^th October, 2021 at 11 am. The session covered the areas of plant cultivation, online sale and mushroom cultivation. The session was very informative and inspiring for the young minds who are planning a venture. The speakers were Mr. Krishnan V A who is a Malayalam teacher at Sree Saraswati Vidya Niketan and Mr. Blaze Babu who is a student in Cochin University of Science and Technology. The session was really interesting and informative to the participants.
