St. Albert’s college (Autonomous ), Ernakulam organized Albertian Knowledge Summit (AKS 2022), an international conference on multidisciplinary research with the aim to provide a forum for academicians and professionals from multidisciplinary areas to network and share knowledge.
As a part of AKS – 2022, the department of Renewable Energy organized an international conference comprising of 2 webinars of international resource persons. Dr. Jerin Mohan N D, HOD& Asst. Professor and Mr. Alex Jose, Asst. Professor convened and coordinated AKS-Renewable Energy 2022 . Nivin Vinod and Antony Philip of II B.Voc RE performed their duty as student coordinators of AKS-Renewable Energy 2022.
TALK 1: SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAICS AND NOVEL DEPLOYMENT STRATEGIES
The webinar began with a silent prayer . The first talk of AKS – RE 2022 by Dr. Aldrin Antony,Associate Professor, Dept. of Physics, CUSAT held on 16th March 2022 at 11.00AM in the Google meet platform. A total of 66 student participants from II and III B.Voc RE and from I and II M.Voc REM, also all the faculty members of the department of Renewable Energy attended the session.
Ms. Vijayalakshmi C G , Asst. Professor, Dept. of RE welcomed Principal Dr. M A Solomon , the resource person , Dr. Aldrin Antony, other dignitaries and all the participants to the first talk of AKS-RE 2022.
Dr. M A Solomon , during principal’s address mentioned the relevance of the international conference organized by the department under AKS 2022 in the present world. He made it certain that the conference will definitely be a platform to the researchers and academicians for more exposure that can benefit every community and he wished all success for the event.
Dr. Jerin Mohan N D introduced the resource person, Dr. Aldrin Antony of Cochin University of Science & Technology. Dr. Jerin gave the necessary information to the participants regarding the academic achievements and contributions by Dr. Aldrin Antony in the field of solar photovoltaics.
Dr. Aldrin Antony talked about ‘Solar photovoltaics and & Deployment strategies’. The talk began with the importance of renewable energy in the present circumstances, the need for energy conservation for a sustainable future. Dr. Aldrin explained the very basics of solar cells, thin film and crystalline silicon technologies in the field. He outlined various industrial and domestic applications of these technologies. The talk also covered topics like ,various concerns of floating PV, floating aquaculture with floating solar power , solar powered desalination, antisoiling solutions etc.
In the interactive session after the talk students and teachers participated enthusiastically. UG & PG students and teachers of the department raised various questions and sought more clarification about various contents in the talk.
Ms . Anna Thomas , Asst. Professor of the department proposed the vote of thanks and acknowledged the contribution of those who worked hard for making the first AKS – RE 2022 talk a successful event. Ms . Anna Thomas thanked Dr. Aldrin Antony for delivering the lecture on Solar photovoltaics and & Deployment strategies. Ms. Anna extended sincere gratitude towards Dr. Jerin Mohan N D , HOD of Renewable Energy for his tireless work towards AKS -2022 and also for giving a nice introduction for the resource person. Ms. Anna also thanked Ms. Vijayalakshmi C G for welcoming all the dignitaries , guests and participants. She extended his sincere gratitude for all the students and participants of the webinar for their deep involvement .

TALK 2: SOLAR ENERGY TO MEET ENERGY CRISIS: A TECHNICAL REVIEW
The webinar began with a divine quote from the bible . The second talk of AKS – RE 2022 by Dr. Nirmal Mukundan C M, Post doctoral fellow, Khalifa University held on 16th March 2022 at 07.00 PM in the Google meet platform. A total of 84 student participants from I,II and III B.Voc RE and from I and II M.Voc REM, also all the faculty members of the department of Renewable Energy attended the session.
Ms. M Aruny Nandinikkutty , Asst. Professor, Dept. of RE welcomed , the resource person , Dr. Nirmal Mkundan , other dignitaries and all the participants to the first talk of AKS-RE 2022.
Rev. Fr.Dr.Antony Thoppil , Chaiman , St. Albert’s College(Autonomous) during the presidential’s address mentioned the relevance of the international conference organized by the department under AKS 2022 – a platform for students and teachers of the institution can interact with international resource persons to update their knowledge. in the present world. Rev. Fr. Antony remained us that , from the beginning of AKS in 2016 , it has widened in a great manner in giving priorities to research and employability. Rev. Fr. Antony also pointed out that AKS has contributed much more to increase the research aptitude among Albertians and congratulated the whole team of Dept. of Renewable Energy for organizing the AKS –RE 2022 in a brilliant manner and in a suitable relevant topic.
Fr. John Christopher Vadassery , Registrar, St. Albert’s College(Autonomous) felicitated the event. Fr. John Christopher take up his felicitations by nudging the energy crisis and demand for clean energy in the modern world. Fr. John Christopher encouraged students and scholars of the department to contribute their knowledge more to the coming generations for having cleaner sources of energy which are non depletable. Fr. John wished all for having enlightening moments during AKS 2022 and also to benefit from the resource persons.
Dr. Jerin Mohan N D introduced the resource person, Dr. Nirmal Mukundan C M, Post doctoral fellow, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Khalifa University,Abudhabi , UAE . Dr. Jerin gave the necessary information about the resource person, Dr. Nirmal Mukundan to the participants including his academic achievements , contributions , memberships in national/international organization etc. in the field of solar energy.
Dr. Nirmal Mukundan delivered his talk on ‘Solar Energy to meet Energy crisis: A technical review’. Dr. Nirmal Mukundan marked off the basic attraction of solar energy and the semiconductor technology to harness the solar energy. Dr. Nimal defined the terms in solar vocabulary and explained the grid connected solar energy conversion system. He has also covered topics like, role of power electronics in solar energy conversion , maximum power point tracking and also some CEA standards.
After the interactive session , the event moved towards proposing a formal vote of thanks .
Ms . Awani B , Asst. Professor of the department proposed the vote of thanks and acknowledged the contribution of those who worked hard for making the first AKS – RE 2022 talk a successful event. Ms . Awani B thanked Dr. Nirmal Mukundan for presenting a technical review on solar energy to address the demand for clean and sustainable energy in the present world and future. Ms. Aswani extended sincere gratitude towards Dr. Jerin Mohan N D , HOD of Renewable Energy for his strenuous and constant work towards AKS -2022 and also for giving a nice introduction about the resource person. Ms. Aswani thanked all the dignitaries , guests and participants and extended her sincere gratitude for all the students and participants of the webinar for their good involvement .
