The Department of Physics of St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam, conducted an online PowerPoint Presentation competition via Google Meet titled “HEIWA” based on the theme Atoms for Peace on 29th August, 2020, observed as the International day against nuclear tests since 2009. ‘Heiwa’ is a Japanese word that stands for peace and harmony.
Students from different colleges across India registered for the competition out of which 8 students were selected for the final round. Dr. Louie Frobel P G, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Physics gave an informative talk regarding the theme, and officially inaugurated the competition.
The results were published on the 1st of September, 2020. The first position was awarded to Sruthy K S, Newman College, Thodupuzha. The second position was awarded to Melvin Varghese, Al Ameen College, Edathala. The third prize was shared by Sabeel P K, School of Physical Sciences and Vijayalakshmi V, Newman College, Thodupuzha.
The event was organized by Prof. Augustine Sumesh C J of the Department of Physics assisted by Ms. Laya Lalithakumar and Mr. Abin John, student coordinators from the department.
