Dr. Nify Benny joined St Albert’s College in the year 2013. She was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from St Teresa’s College, Ernakulam in 1999 and completed her Post Graduate studies from Fatima Mata National College, Kollam in 2001. She worked as a Guest Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, St Teresa’s College, Ernakulam from 2004 July to 2005 March. Meanwhile she registered for PhD in the Department of Chemical Oceanography, School of Marine Sciences, CUSAT under the guideship of Dr Sujatha C H. Her topic of research was “Sulphur Chemistry of Marine Environment”. She was awarded Ph.D. on 14 th July 2010. She continued in the Department as Research Fellow in a Project “Hydrogeochemical Quality Assessment of Groundwaters in selected Districts of Kerala” funded by KSCSTE until she got appointed as Guest Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery for two years. She also worked as Assistant Professor in Chemistry in two of the Engineering Colleges – MET’S School of Engineering, Mala from September 2011 to September 2012 and at SCMS School of Engineering and Technology, Karukutty from September 2012 to July 2013. She joined Department of Chemistry, St. Albert’s College on 12 th August 2013. She has been teaching the UG and PG students, guiding projects of the students and has been involved in mentoring. She has completed one Minor project funded by UGC and has published three papers in journals, one book chapter, four papers in conference proceedings and one laboratory manual in Industrial Inorganic Chemistry.
She is in charge of Consultancy program- Water quality analysis of the Department and the Coordinator of Certificate program of the Department Water Quality Management. Nify also serves as the DQAC Coordinator of the Department from 2017. She is a member of the Quiz Club, Women Empowerment Cell and NAAC criteria 7 team of St Albert’s College, Ernakulam and also a Life member of Indian Society of Analytical Chemists- Kerala Chapter. She has been the Coordinator of Walk with a Scholar Programme of the College for two years.
