Dr. Anna Ancy Antony is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam. She has six years of Graduate and Post Graduate teaching experience and is an active researcher in Plant Taxonomy and Molecular Phylogeny. She completed her M.Sc. Degree from St. Joseph’s College, Devagiri, Calicut. She was a Junior Research Fellow under Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment, Government of Kerala and completed her Ph.D. in Angiosperm Taxonomy in 2014. She was a recipient of ECRA (Early Career Research Award) of SERB (Science and Engineering Research Board, India) in 2018 and is currently working on a major research project entitled ‘Taxonomy and Molecular Phylogeny of the genus Heliotropium L. (Boraginaceae) in India’. She presented a paper in the XIXth International Botanical Congress (IBC) and Nomenclature Section held at Shenzhen, China in 2017. She published three new species in the family Commelinaceae as part of her research. Dr. Anna Ancy also co-authored a book on the genus Murdannia (Commelinaceae) of India. She has to her credit seven research papers published in international journals and has also presented several papers at conferences of IAAT and KSC. She received the Best Paper Award in 2013. Her research interest presently includes taxonomy of Indian Boraginales, including their molecular phylogeny. She is a life member of IAAT (Indian Association for Angiosperm Taxonomy) and KBS (Kerala Botanical Society).
