What Our Students Say
Abhijith Radhakrishnan2013-16 Batch
I was a part of the Post-Graduate Dept. of English for three academic years, and I can say with utmost confidence that my alma mater has provided me with the best-in-class tutelage in language and literature. It has certainly laid the foundation for my understanding of English Literature, which allowed me to pursue a master's course in the same stream. Owing to the passion for the subject which budded during my study at Albert's, I currently work as a lecturer of English. I thank all my teachers for facilitating the same. Moreover, the various programmes like "Drachma Yon" (A Rupee A day), and our very own department magazine, "Mela", have proved to us that, with determination and a set of supportive mentors, almost anything is achievable for college students. It is not every day that you get to be a part of a system which gives equal stress to academic excellence and extra-curricular undertakings. That, I believe, is what makes my department special.

St. Albert's College gave a platform from where I could take a leap and spread my wings. I was just like any other science student, swept away into the currents of competitive exams and lost forever. It took some serious efforts to break the stereotypes associated with "just an arts degree"; as people call it. Albert’s set the stage for me. As an average to above average student in school, I found a platform here to soar high. My professors were so full of knowledge and inspiration and gave me exactly what I needed. I shall be always grateful to their guidance and love. I should make a special mention to Prof Thomas Sebastian, Prof Leslie Thomas and Prof Vijayan. The three pillars who set my brains on the right track. Apart from academics, what I shall treasure till death are the bonds I share with my classmates. We don't need regular calls or messages; we can start over afresh at any point in time and it'll feel as good as our chatting sessions in the corridors. These bonds give me a special sense of confidence to do anything. It assures me that there are a couple of homes waiting for me even if I fail.

St. Albert’s College helped me identify my flair in research and to groom me in that direction. Wherever our syllabus stayed archaic and orthodox our teachers unveiled a lot more. We were exposed to film making, media studies, journalism, blogging etc as add-on courses which were uncommon for other institutions back then. Being in proximity to the heart of the city too gave us an edge and exposure. The college also gave us a space to dissent and resist but made sure it all ended in constructive debates.
