CONSOLIDATED REPORT OF THE PARENTS TEACHER STUDENT ( PTS) MEETING / OPEN HOUSE CONDUCTED.

Regular Parent Teacher Student (PTS) meeting was held in the Dept by the completion of the first or second internal every semester. The report of the PTS of the year is as follows.

Semester V

Report of the PTS meeting held on 2.9.2019

The open house for the 5th semester students was conducted on the2 nd of September, 2019. 28 parents attended the same, while 9 attended later in the following week. A few parents whose wards were in the hostel expressed their inability to come and promised to meet the teachers later whenever possible. One parent enquired about the internet facility available for students reference work.

Semester VI

Report of the PTS meetings held on 18th & 19th February 2020

The Open House for the 6th semester students was held on 2 days- 18th and 19th of February, 2020, taking into account the difficulty of parents who could not make it on the single day mentioned. 35 parents attended the same, showing a significant improvement compared to the previous one. 5 parents attended later in the subsequent week. 2 of them have not attended at all- one CSGP student hailing from Idukki, while the other cited health issues.

Mary Joseph the tutor made the required follow-ups including the result analysis and remedial programmes.

Report of the Parent Teacher Student (PTS) Meeting Of B.Sc. 2018-21 Batch

Semester I

Venue: Room No. 234, Department of Botany
Time: 8 am.

As the First Semester of the BSc Botany Students was about to get over, PTS meeting was convened on 4th October, 2018. The programme was as follows,

  1. Silent Prayer
  2. Welcome and Introductory Speech: Dr. Anisha S, Tutor
  3. Address: Dr. J Jameson P, HoD
  4. Interaction between parents, teachers and students: The parents were familiarised with the functioning of the Department as well as the college. The marks of the first internal exam were presented. In case of the students who couldn’t perform well in the above exam, discussion was carried out with the parents. Possible reasons and measures that could be implemented for improvement were disc Remedial lasses was decided as one of the measures to help such students. Some students faced problems because they joined late when lasses had already started.

The class has a total of 40 students on the rolls, of which parents of 34 were present.

Action taken: 

  1. Parents were asked to be aware of the time spent by their wards on studies and other activities.
  2. Remedial classes were arranged for students needy of academic support.
  3. Parents were also instructed to ensure that their wards had breakfast before coming to the college.

Semester II

Venue: Room No. 234, Department of Botany
Time: 8 am.

For the Second Semester, BSc Botany Students, the PTS meeting was convened on 15thMarch, 2019. The programme was as follows,

  1. Silent Prayer
  2. Welcome and Introductory Speech: Dr. Anisha S, Tutor
  3. Address: Dr. J Jameson P, HoD
  4. Interaction between parents, teachers and students: General discussion was taken up. The marks of the first internal exam were presented. It was stressed that the parents should ensure that their wards had breakfast before coming to college. Remedial classes were arranged for some students. One of the students was involved in sports activities and thus needed some academic support for the classes lost due to sports events.

Semester III

Venue: Room No. 234, Department of Botany
Time: 8 am.

The PTS meeting of the III Semester BSc Botany Students was convened on 30thAugust, 2019. The programme was as follows,

  1. Silent Prayer
  2. Welcome and Introductory Speech: Dr. Anisha S, Tutor
  3. Address: Dr. J Jameson, HoD
  4. Interaction between parents, teachers and students: General discussion was taken up. The marks of the first internal exam were presented. The parents were also briefed about the students’ algal collection trip to Kollam coast.

Action taken: 

  1. Parents were asked to be aware of the time spent by their wards on studies and other activities. T least in some cases, it was felt that the increasing use of mobile phones for gaming and other purposes was compromising the studies. The concern was shared with the parents for necessary action on a case-specific basis.
  2. Parents were also instructed to ensure that their wards had breakfast before coming to the college.

Semester IV

Venue: Room No. 234, Department of Botany
Time: 8 am.

The PTS meeting of the IV Semester BSc Botany Students was convened on 17thFebruary, 2020. The programme was as follows,

  1. Silent Prayer
  2. Welcome and Introductory Speech: Dr. Anisha S, Tutor
  3. Interaction between parents, teachers and students: General discussion was taken up. The marks of the first internal exam were presented. The overall performance of the class was satisfactory except one or two students. The third semester results were also mentioned. The parents were also briefed about the students’ algal collection trip to Kollam coast. It was stressed that the parents should ensure that their wards, especially girls, had breakfast before coming to college.

Action taken: 

  1. Parents were asked to be aware of the time spent by their wards on studies and other activities.At least in some cases, it was felt that the increasing use of mobile phones for gaming and other purposes was compromising the studies. The concern was shared with the parents for necessary action on a case-specific basis.
  2. Certain measures were also finalized for improving the End-semester exam results.

Report of the open house of B.Sc. 2019-2021 batch.

Open house was conducted for I semester students on 25/10/2019. Parents of 11 students attended the meeting. 7 parents informed their inconvenience to attend the meeting and shall meet the teacher later. Matters regarding first internal exam, attendance shortage, study strategies and general conduct of students were discussed.

The open house of the Sem. II is kept in abeyance due to the present Covid 19 outbreak and suspension of classes. Tutor of the class Anna Ancy A is doing the regular updates and follow-ups for the same.

Report of the open house of M.Sc. 2018-20 batch.

1st semester

Open house of M.Sc  1st  semester 2018-20 batch was held on 5/10/2018. 13 parents attended the meeting. The teachers suggested that the parents should ensure that the wards have breakfast before leaving home as many students are tired in morning classes, and they should give more time for studies. Majority of the parents were of the opinion  that more time should be provided for submission of records . they also opined that the students have difficulty in reaching the college on time in the morning as many of them stay far from the college.

2nd   semester

Open house of M.Sc   2nd   semester 2018-20 batch was held on 18/03/2018.  7 of the 12 parents came for the open house. The teachers were of the opinion that the students must dedicate more time for their studies.

3 rd   semester

Open house of M.Sc. 3 rd   semester 2018-20 batch was held on 27/8/19. 11 of the 12 parents came for the open house. They were informed about the tests and the strategies to be adopted for the end semester examinations were discussed.

The Tutors Drishya K R (2018-19) period and Dr Siju M V made the required follow-ups including the result analysis and remedial programmes.


Report of the open house of M.Sc. 2019-21 batch.

Open house was conducted for I semester students on 30/08/2019. Parents of all students attended the meeting. Matters regarding first internal exam, attendance shortage, study strategies and general conduct of students were discussed.Mr Charles Blue father of Lhea Blue and  Mr Basheer  father of Shahanas  were selected as the class representatives while  Bindhu Jayan mother  Arpana Jayan   was also included as women representative for.

The open house of the Sem. II is kept in abeyance due to the present Covid 19 outbreak  and suspension of classes. Tutor of the class Madhusudanan K  is doing the regular updates and follow-ups for the same.
